Luke 8:1-3 tells us, "Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance."
Jesus had an earthly ministry, with a staff and many followers. Jesus went about preaching everywhere, declaring the glad tidings of the Kingdom of God. It is important that we ministers declare the good news of God's kingdom. By the way, God only has good news for those who follow Him.
Jesus also had partners who supported him. Maybe some were one-time supporters (He did move around a lot in those days). But the Bible says there were "many others who provided for Him (them) from their substance."
Every ministry needs partners.
I believe that Jesus established the for partners in all ministries. He received what was given in support and did not complain or criticize the size of each gift. Instead, He always recognized the heart attitude of those who supported Him.
As our ministries grow in size (people and resources), we must always realize that our ministries belong to the Lord. Our labor or efforts are unto the Lord.
Everything we do must be done as unto the Lord. The people in our congregations (or partners) do not belong to us. They are the sheep of the Lord.
If we have committed our ministries to God, then our ministries belong to Him. If our ministries stay under His leadership, then ministers do what God calls them to do and leave any and all stress to the Lord (He doesn't get stressed).
I heard Joyce Meyer say one time, "if we build our ministries, we must maintain them, but if God builds our ministries, He will maintain them."
2 Chronicles 20:15 says, "Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s."
Your ministry is not yours but God's. If it is yours, you will have to pay for it and work to make it all come the way you want it.
If it is God's ministry, then you will only be required to obey His commands and follow His direction. He will send the staff, the followers and fund His ministry.
Remember the story of the Rich Young Ruler in Mark chapter ten? It wasn't that he had riches, but that the riches had him. He was ruled by or controlled by his riches.
The same could be true of the glory of the spotlight. Ministry must never control us by its and thoughts of what a man's idea of great success is.
True success is: "Have I obeyed the voice of the Holy Spirit today?" If so, then I am a success!"
Here are some ways you can support a ministry or the church you attend.
  1. You should pray for your church daily (speaking the Word of God over your leaders and those who attend).
  2. Give of yourself physically, as you can.
  3. Invest your God's work, as you would unto the Lord, and God will reward you.
  4. And give financially to your church (Remember, you can't out-give the Lord).
GOD CALLS YOU Blessed AND HIGHLY FAVORED… even as you enable your church ministry in touching precious lives around the world.
